176% More Organic Leads — From a Blog That Had Traffic, Not Demos

TalentPulse's SaaS blog already pulled a healthy amount of organic traffic every month — and converted almost none of it into demo requests. Here's how conversion-focused SEO turned that traffic into a real pipeline channel in 8 months.

The challenge

38,000 Monthly Readers, Almost No Demos

TalentPulse's content team had done the hard part — 38,000 people a month were reading its HR-tech blog, ranking for broad terms like "employee onboarding checklist" and "hr policy templates". Growth lead Rohan Iyer's problem was that almost none of it turned into a demo. Every post ended in a generic "Subscribe to our newsletter" CTA, there wasn't a single comparison or alternatives page for the HRMS category, and internal links routed readers deeper into unrelated blog posts instead of toward the product. The traffic dashboard looked great in board meetings. The demo-request dashboard did not.

01 — What we did

The Conversion SEO Playbook We Ran

1Week 1–2

Conversion Audit

Mapped every blog post against actual demo-click data and found the highest-traffic posts drove almost none of the requests.

2Week 2–3

Search Intent Remap

Reclassified content by funnel stage and confirmed the blog had zero comparison or "best HR software for..." pages — exactly what in-market buyers search.

3Month 1–2

Bottom-Funnel Page Build

Built comparison, alternatives and use-case pages targeting the high-intent searches HR buyers actually run before signing up for a trial.

4Month 2–4

CTA Re-Engineering

Replaced the newsletter CTA with contextual demo prompts and gated templates matched to each post's specific intent.

5Month 4–6

Internal Linking Overhaul

Rebuilt internal links so high-traffic top-of-funnel posts routed directly into bottom-funnel and product pages, not sideways into more blog content.

6Month 6–8

Measure & Iterate on Leads

Shifted every report to organic leads and demos, not sessions — and rewrote or cut the posts that kept driving traffic without ever converting.

i

Traffic was never the problem. The blog's top-traffic post barely moved once rewritten — but a brand-new "TalentPulse vs. legacy HRMS" comparison page became the single highest-converting page on the site within six weeks.

What the Growth Team Says

★★★★★

"We used to celebrate traffic spikes that meant nothing. Now every report starts with demo requests, and the blog is finally a channel our sales team actually wants leads from."

Methodology

Organic lead and traffic figures come from Google Search Console and GA4, tracked against a fixed pre-engagement baseline. Demo requests are counted from the product's own booking tool, quality-tagged by the sales team, not raw form fills. Timeframe and starting baseline stated above, as with every case study we publish.
